Her eyes turned a circle, and then fell on Yuan Buwei. She said gratefully: “thank you for your willingness to give me this opportunity. I will use it well.”
Then, she looked at him expectantly.
Normally, at this time, Yuan Buwei should pull out the script and let her perform. Unexpectedly, Yuan buwei didn’t do anything except casually lean back.
“Okay, then you can leave.”
Wen Jiaojiao was stunned: “what?”
He didn’t want to repeat it, so he pointed out the door. Originally he thought the heroine was going to do something interesting, but she only wanted to audition? Yuan Buwei lost interest shortly.
Wen Jiaojiao finally realised his indifference and disdain: “No, senior, you haven’t seen my performance yet. If you deny an actor who came to audition without even giving them a chance, is it fair from you as a director?”
She put away her smile and looked at him seriously. Such a serious and firm look made her cool and gorgeous face more attractive.
“When did I promise to let you audition?” he asked back.
Then he pointed out the door.
The meaning is already obvious.
Wen Jiaojiao had a feeling that she was giving a blind man a wink. She stood in the middle of the room for a long time.
Someone nearby could not help laughing. It was the actress who was worried about being robbed of her role. As soon as she laughed, she covered her mouth.
Wen Jiaojiao’s heart exploded with anger, but she still kept a smile on her face. She smiled exceedingly forcefully, which made other people feel that the director seemed to have gone too far. After all, apart from the emotional involvement between Wen Jiaojiao and Zhou Yao, she has not had any bad press. She was even implicated by Zhou Yao.
Her eyes were slightly red: “since the senior didn’t agree to let me audition, why did you let me in? Don’t you think it’s rude to tease a girl like this?”
Yuan Buwei finally looked at her carefully: “maybe it’s because it’s more polite to refuse face to face?”
Wen Jiaojiao: “? ? ?”
Wen Jiaojiao was so choked up by him that she was speechless. She stared at him aggrievedly for a long time, until her eyes almost fell out of their sockets. However, the other party did not respond at all. He calmly drank the honey tea handed over by secretary Jiang.
His eyes are slightly curved, creating a pleasant visage.
Secretary Jiang pushed his glasses and looked at Xie Ze. He smiled triumphantly.

Xie Ze didn’t understand his meaning, so he returned a friendly smile.
He thinks he’s on the right team. It goes without saying that director Yan is someone with good insight to choose him at a glance. He must be a brilliant and perfect person! Secretary Jiang is also so friendly to him… He has to live up to the good intentions of these two people, he must perform well, to especially repay director Yan for his appreciation!
With this in mind, Xie Ze quietly opened his mobile phone memo and recorded the sentence “director Yan likes honey tea”.
The atmosphere among them was harmonious, which made Wen Jiaojiao, who had been standing here, feel embarrassed.
She grunted angrily and turned away.
Others didn’t pay much attention to her.
The production team has a very tight schedule, Yuan Buwei released the script and started filming not long after. So these people had to hurry up to get familiar with it.
When the group dispersed, Yuan Buwei walked towards the door. Suddenly, a person appeared at the corner and rushed towards him.
It’s Wen Jiaojiao, who hasn’t left yet.
Yuan Buwei continued to leave and didn’t pay attention to her, but Wen Jiaojiao stopped him: “senior, actually, I have a more important goal today, which is to apologise to you. What Zhou Yao did before is all my fault, I caused you trouble!”
Her tone was sincere and she made a deep bow.
Yuan Buwei said “Oh” and walked around her.
He looked very cold, without any curiosity to ask why she involved him.
“…” Wen Jiaojiao, wanted to wait for him to ask questions, then take advantage of the situation to hint her intentions euphemistically. She could not say any of the words she rehearsed.
Yuan Buwei hadn’t left for a few steps, when suddenly there was a girl’s suppressed cry behind him. It seemed that she was extremely depressed and finally broke down——
“What did I do wrong? Zhou Yao liked me and kept pestering me. He even attacked the people I liked… He made a mistake, but I lost everything! What did I do wrong?”
Yuan Buwei turned around and looked at her abruptly.
Wen Jiaojiao raised her head with tears in her eyes, but she met a pair of eyes that were so cold that they did not contain emotion. The dark grey pair of pupils reflect an extremely sharp light.
“You are wrong in being ugly yet not knowing it. You dream too beautifully.”
His lips curved slightly and he began to laugh. But the eyes staring at Wen Jiaojiao seem to be hiding an abyss.
Wen Jiaojiao’s body suddenly became stiff, and her fear could not be suppressed. For a moment, she even had the illusion of being suffocated.
Only when the figure of the man disappeared from her sight, did she gently breathe a sigh of relief. Her body leaned against the wall, and her hands and feet were soft.

“En… Terrifying…”
Yan Xun was not the person she knew at all. She even begins to suspect that everyone else has been deceived by the other party. This person has actually gone crazy! When he was put in a mental hospital, the doctor did not misdiagnose him at all!
Like a small animal that has strayed into the powerful field of predators, indescribable fear still remains in her subconscious, driving her to flee quickly. Wen Jiaojiao stumbled into a run, without knowing what she was doing.
Yuan Buwei walked a while before he stopped and turned to look behind a door next to him: “Come out.”
The door of the room was opened by a crack, and a man quietly poked out his head, holding a mobile phone in one hand. He recognised that this was the second female lead of the crew.
Fang Yao was still holding up her mobile phone and looked at him awkwardly: “Yan, director Yan.”
Just now, she was curious, so she couldn’t help taking a picture with her mobile phone. Because she could only see his back, she was not frightened by Yuan Buwei. Instead, she took a complete picture of all of Wen Jiaojiao’s expressions from beginning to end.
Now, facing one of the parties involved, Fang Yao is in a panic: “director Yan, I didn’t mean it. I didn’t intend to send it! I, I will delete it now!”
Fang Yao subconsciously wanted to give her mobile phone to him, but she heard him suddenly say:
“Don’t delete it. Send me a copy. I want to use it.”
Fang Yao opened her mouth in surprise: “… Ah?”

“You are wrong in being ugly yet not knowing it. You dream too beautifully.”
Okay, this is just stupid. She’s not ugly, she might just be a tiny bit mean and likes to take advantage of people who admire her and try to make up for their past mistakes. But she hasn’t done anything wrong, and she was dragged down by the guy who went to prison.
Of course, she probably could’ve done her due diligence and checked whether the guy did awful things and make her stance on the matter clear, but even if she didn’t, so what? The matters benefit her, so there’s no reason for her to want to get to the bottom of the matter, and the guy concealed his schemes quite well, so this can at most amount to a somewhat major mistake that is nevertheless not career or life ending.
Her expectation of the MC helping her are misguided, but there’s nothing wrong with that – he turned her down, that’s it. They’re even. She tries to manipulate him emotionally, but that is basically the majority of interpersonal relationships, or in other words, politics.
She is playing by the rules of the entertainment industry, which the MC seems to despise (along with all kinds of societal conventions), but if that was everything, the response should just be for him to ignore her, bluntly refuse and go about his way. But no, for some reason her becoming emotional makes him go into a sudden rage where he mercilessly bullies her for minor things….

It was at this point where I went back and actually read the rest of the chapter. Most of the points still stand – she isn’t an awful person, just an average one leaning slightly towards being bad, but nothing major. And yet, reading between the lines it sounds as though she is an awful person and a diva.
Fortunately this didn’t become a totally cliché plot where the MC broke character and became a mouthpiece for the author to criticize a character that they created, but it’s close – if she starts holding a grudge because he ‘didn’t help her’ and turns from a side character cannon fodder into a minor villain I’m going to be so annoyed.
Anohow, thanks for reading my rant. Have a good day.
Hm… I’m just gonna refute one thing. She’s definitely not innocent. Anyone with understanding of right and wrong would rather stay away from those scums. Did you remember her accepting the revenge contract? Nevertheless of her not knowing what they did when she became a star, she definitely know what they did when the original was bullied to the point of (most likely) death. They’re powerful people with no remorse nor pity who tortured the innocent original emotionally and psychologically (at the very least) and drove others to bully her to the point of no return. Instead, what did she do? She saw them as strong helpers and made them fall in love with her and made them lead a ‘lonely, loveless’ life. Seriously? Did that equate to even an inch of the original’s pain and despair? Not at all, not to mention them being rich, they suffer from no consequences of their evildoing. Every person except for the victim even touted them as perfect human or something of the sort, seeing that they reached that height in life and continued to be her supporter till death. As for loveless? Not necessarily so, even if she didn’t date any of them, they still imagine such a thing, they might even think of themselves as knights or something holy like that, even if she’s regarded as their queen. They even punished the ‘obvious’ bullies, as if the whole matter has none of their involvement. All I see is them living the best of their lives. She basically violated the contract, if the original can come back, I’m sure she would’ve been hounded to death by her. The fact was that she seduced them to reach glory instead of fulfilling the contract. The fact was that she knew what kind of people they are and by judging by how scared she is when those men first turned their backs on her (the shock was simply her superiority of having seduced them crumbled by how easily they turned to hate her, she thought she had them in their palms the whole time), even if she didn’t at first, she must know that one couldn’t get to reach such a height so easily without any backing (whether it’s their own, through connections, or from others), and that she should’ve known that they retaliated against people she doesn’t like or like and show no remorse. But the fact was that her mind was up in the clouds, again, thinking that they’re in the palm of her hands that she continued doing this, instead of trying to distance/defend herself from them out of fear of them doing the same to them, like a normal person would.
And lastly, as the author said, MC didn’t feel any hate towards her, at all. He’s not the original owner, her existence and deeds have nothing to do with him. The one that got locked up was the original, actually he quite enjoyed being there, he would’ve been there longer if it wasn’t for the lack of candy supplies. But then again, he feels no gratitude towards her either, she’s no different from strangers on the street. His evaluation is him being truthful, he truly thinks of her like that, not due to justice or anything like that (he’s never truly righteous anyway, he just does everything he wants and interpret it anyway he wants), but due to the fact that she got arrested because of his report (even if she got out a few days later) and still went to him for help or something else. A normal person would avoid him, after all she (no matter how) indirectly caused his suffering and the fact that he’s all powerful now. She feels that she has no blame at all. However, anger and such emotional stuff is never rational, it’s a fact that she’s involved. It would’ve been fine if she just went there to apologize (though, if she went on the headlines or even worse, got into another live scandal with him, she would’ve been toast, after all, he doesn’t like being taken advantage of) it would’ve been fine. After all, MC is really keen on reading people and their intentions.
Sorry for the rant, I guess. This just gets longer and longer.
Oh, and one more thing, nothing is beautiful except works of art (sweets) in his eyes. So, yes, he truly thought she’s ugly. The actors he found also just simply needs to fit to the image and can act, as for whether he thinks they’re beautiful/handsome? No chance. The primary reason this is a no romance novel is after all, because of this. And as everyone know, sweets are meant to be eaten and devoured, not loved, cherished or even married to.
